Rob’s Wine World
Greetings my fellow winers. So, what exactly is our little Wine World going to be about? Well wine of course. But there will be a wide range of wine topics covered. To be completely transparent, I am not a sommelier (the dude who serves wine), and I am not a wine snob, I am just a guy who finds it fun to learn about wine, so why not learn with me? What other areas of your life include the philosophy that the more you drink the more you know?
I am dedicated to learning more about wine and my plan is to share what I learn with you. Wine seems to be growing more and more as a part of the American culture. In many countries wine is as run of the mill of a beverage as lemonade with a meal. I think too often wine is associated with the wealthy and not enough people take advantage of enjoying wine.
From time to time I will write about wine and my experience learning about wine with the hope of providing you with Snobby to Simple Suggestions. For starters, consider our Wine Kit Box Set, which includes a basic wine opener and a wine stopper. So for now browse the site and soon enough I will have some experiences and suggestions to share.

I am big on finding wines that you can enjoy, and aren’t too expensive. The last thing we need is more organizations or people looking to get a financial bailout from the government.
Just like everyone has their own taste in TV shows, food, and online stores, everyone has their own taste in wine. That’s the most important thing to keep in mind while you try new wines.
I happen to like wines that have a combination of flavor, robustness, and smoothness. Much like my dating experiences, the perfect combination is hard to find. I am a fan of big, jammy reds from California. The perfect example of this is Chimney Rock (2001) Cabernet. Yeah, that costs about 80 bucks a bottle. I’ve only had it once, but it is an amazing wine.
There are more inexpensive and tasty options. Below are some wines that I think are well worth the price and have a lot of depth and taste.
One of my favorite wines is J. Lohr. You can learn more about J. Lohr at www.jlohr.com. I enjoy both their Cabernet and Merlot. I would describe the wine as smooth, silky, and flavorful. It retails for about $15-$18. One of the reason I enjoy J. Lohr Cabernet and Merlot is that it is not acidic (meaning you don’t get that strong taste like you just ate a battery).
Snobby to Simple Tip: When looking for a wine and you are not sure what to buy take a look at the label. My experience has been that wines that say the words “Produced and Bottled by” are the best tasting. This doesn’t mean that they are more expensive. This just means that the winemakers had complete control over the grapes from start to finish. This has proven to make a big difference in my experience.
